Olivia Pike is an emerging artist, based out of Vine Grove, Kentucky.  She recently completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Louisville’s Allen R. Hite Art Institute, earning a BFA in 2D Studio Art with a concentration in Photography.  She has received numerous art scholarships during her college career, including the Hite Art Scholarship and the Barbara Bullitt Christian Memorial Scholarship for Photography.  Beyond her education and work as a darkroom assistant at the University of Louisville, Olivia also has attended the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops as of the summer of 2018.  Outside her photographic work, Olivia has devoted practice and study to drawing and painting as well.  She has worked both with DSLRs and digital platforms, as well as traditional darkroom and historic processes and black and white film development.

Olivia’s work references solitude, the contemplative nature of quiet spaces, and the poignancy of the mundane.  She was introduced to and fell in love with plastic cameras during her third undergraduate year, and now largely uses the Diana, Holga and medium format film to make her photographs.  Her most recent body of work, entitled “Echoes,” exhibits a documentation of instances of recurring commonality between rural and urban landscapes.
